Cliff Camp Trail

Cliff Camp Trail

This trail is about 70 miles from Clovis, CA and is a good beginner or intermediate trail for hikers depending on how

Driving Directions

Take 168 North from Clovis for about 40 miles to Dinkey Creek Rd . Turn on Right on Dinkey Creek Rd and take that for about 12 miles to McKinley Grove Rd. Take McKinley Grove Rd for about 18 miles across Wishon Dam and you will come to the Woodchuck Trailhead parking area. There is a pit toilet and parking.

Trail

The trail starts across the street at the dispersed camping area known as Cliff Camp that overlooks the Wishon Reservoir spillway. This trail is not currently maintained but the trail is easy to follow and there are not too many trees down across the trail. Once you make your way down about One mile you come to a creek crossing to hit the main Cliff Camp Trail. If you make a left you can head towards Granite Gorge or towards the Crown Valley Trailhead if you stay on trail. Make a right and you head down towards the North Fork of the Kings River. When the River is high, crossing the river is not possible due to the Cliff Camp Footbridge being permanently closed. This is a great area to fish, explore and see wildlife. If you just hike to the River and back to the trailhead it is about 3.5 miles roundtrip.
